ADI Treatments were pleased to welcome members of West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) to site recently to complete a scenario simulating recovering a casualty from one of our below ground confined spaces.
There were members of two local fire stations, Smethwick and West Bromwich, and members of the Technical Rescue Units (TRU) from Wednesbury and Birmingham in attendance.
On arrival on site, it became clear that, with support from on-site staff, the planned simulation could develop into a more in-depth scenario affording opportunity for the exercise to also provide some potential training. Whilst a “quick” rescue with Breathing Apparatus (BA) and a rescue with a tripod were both simulated, the scenario then developed into a full rope rescue with the rescue ropes being attached to one of the roof supports.
The exercise was useful for all involved and further cements ADI’s commitment to continually push our processes and improve and nurture interactions with interested parties.
ADI would like to take the opportunity to thank WMFS for attending, and we hope to repeat the exercise, perhaps with an even more in-depth scenario, in the future.
