ADI Treatments announced the commissioning of the world’s largest operational furnace for batch austempering. This customer demand lead investment in the West Midlands follows the 2005 installation of a 2.7 tonne capacity furnace, the previous record breaking batch austemper plant.
Paul Ingram, Operations Manager at the Doranda Way facility in Sandwell, England said this is “a game changer in the world of austempering”. ADI are now able to treat individual components to a weight of up to 7 tonnes net weight and up to 1.9 metres in the critical dimension.
The giant furnace was designed by ADI Treatments in partnership with Furnace Spares and Maintenance (FSM). The investment improves the operational efficiency by an impressive 20%. The company commissioned American trading partner AFC Inc. to supply the rail bound charge car and other ancilliary equipment.
The company gratefully acknowledges some financial support towards this significant investment from Accelerate a programme run by the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce with funding from the European Regional Development Fund.
